Event Description Sheet of Ground Up Project

CERV Project Ref: 101138902

The GroundUp project’s final event, “Life Quality of Young Rural Residents Today – The Role of Conservative Shifts in Politics,” was held from 11 to 13 June 2025 in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, Czechia, and brought together 103 participants from 13 countries. Coordinated by LAG Sdružení SPLAV, z.s., the event examined how rising conservatism, political polarisation, and disinformation are impacting rural youth, with a particular focus on social equity, gender, and democratic engagement.

The programme combined keynote presentations, a World Café with local high school students, and an Oxford Debate on the gender dimension of politics. Expert speakers addressed pressing issues such as regional disparities, depopulation, youth unemployment, and political disengagement. The World Café encouraged cross-generational dialogue, while the Oxford Debate fostered critical reflection on representation and equality in political systems.

Cultural and social exchange played an important role, with informal networking, a château tour, and live music helping to build lasting connections between rural youth and European stakeholders. The event demonstrated the power of civic dialogue to address shared challenges across borders and closed the GroundUp project with renewed momentum toward inclusive and youth-driven policymaking.
